I came to photography later in life, without formal training but with a deep curiosity about people and the quiet theatre of everyday existence. Beginning at forty-five, I found in the camera a way of understanding time and light, how it gathers, how it passes, and how it leaves traces on faces and pavements alike.
Black and white allows me to distil a scene to its emotional core. In removing colour, I search for essence: gesture, tension, pause, contrast. My work reflects a belief that beauty is not manufactured, it is noticed.
Photography, for me, is both witness and meditation.
